CEO of The Black Tuna Gang, Jon Udell took over the role after the passing of his uncle, legendary smuggler, author, and activist Robert Platshorn. Although Jon was only 13 years old when his uncle was incarcerated, the two of them always remained in touch. Their bond had been built through family fishing trips. Sometimes it was three generations of family out fishing. When it was only Jon, his uncle, and the rest of the Black Tuna Gang, those fishing trips left a deep impression. Jon was honored to be able to pick up his uncle from Coleman Federal in Florida after 30 years of prison. Along with Jon was a writer from The New Times and a documentary cameraman. Soon after, through his connections in the South Film Industry, Jon contacted documentary filmmakers Raconteur Films, and immediately a deal was struck for Robert to be featured in their documentary Square Grouper. Jon resides in South Florida with his wife Jodi, and his son Mason.
The rest is history!
